 A. IMPORTANT: Monitor Configuration
------------------------------------
In addition to your monitor being capable of supporting Raven
resolutions, refresh rates and color depths, Windows must be
configured for your monitor type to enable supported resolutions.
The procedure for configuring Windows for your monitor type is
described in the Driver Installation Procedures for Windows 95 OSR 2
and Windows 98.

IV. Installation Procedures
===========================
 A. Notes on Raven Driver Installation
 -------------------------------------
You may decrease the chance of operational issues by verifying that
you have the latest system BIOS for your motherboard from the
motherboard manufacturer. Also, you must insure that all devices
are functioning properly in your operating system before you
 install Raven or Raven drivers.

During the installation, Raven files with common names for 3Dfx
technologies (Voodoo Graphics, Voodoo2, Voodoo Banshee) are copied
to the following directory should you need to manually restore them:

    C:\Program Files\Q3D\Raven\Win9x

 B. Windows 95 OSR 2

VIII. Frequently Asked Questions
================================
Q: Is Raven AGP 2x compliant?
A: No, the Voodoo Banshee on Raven is AGP 1x compliant.

Q: Why is Windows 95 OSR 2.1 required for Raven AGP?
A: The Windows 95 upgrade to Windows 3.1x does not support AGP
adapters. Windows 95 OSR 2.1 includes support for AGP adapters
and is required for Raven AGP to operate properly.

Q: Does Raven have support for Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4?
A: Not at this time. Raven currently only supports Windows NT 4.0
with Service Pack 3. Support for Service Pack 4 will be
available in a future driver release.

Q: Why can't I install DirectX with the desktop configured for 16
    color mode?
A: To install DirectX, your desktop display must be configured for
a minimum color depth of 256 colors. Change your desktop color
depth to 256 colors or greater and then install DirectX.

Q: Can I have a 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2 based adapter and
    Raven in the same system?
A: Yes, but only ONE device can be used for 3Dfx Glide applications.
Follow these instructions to properly install both cards in your
    computer.
NOTE: In this configuration, the Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2
based adapter will be the primary 3Dfx Glide device. Direct3D
applications will allow you to select which device to use.

    1. If you have a 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2 baed adapter
installed in your system, you will need to uninstall the
software and remove the adapter before you install Raven.
Please follow the instructions in your user's manual to
properly uninstall the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2 based
       adapter.
    2. Install the Raven Series 2D/3D Graphics Adapter. Please
follow the instructions in the Raven Quick Start Guide or the
Raven On-Line Manual to properly install Raven.
    3. Re-Install the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2 based adapter.
    4. Now the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2 based adapter is set
to be the primary 3Dfx Glide device.

Q: Why do high resolutions or refresh rates cause corrupted display
    on my monitor?
A: Not all monitors are compatible with all Raven supported
resolutions or refresh rates. Please consult your monitor manual
to determine which resolutions and refresh rates can be
    supported.

Q: Why are 640 x 480 and 800 x 600 the only resolutions listed for
Raven in the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog?
A: Verify that Windows is configured correctly for your monitor type
in the Display Properties dialog. To do so, perform the
following for your version of Windows:

    2. Select the Settings tab and click the Advanced Properties
button. The Advanced Display Properties dialog will appear.
    3. Select the Monitor tab. The monitor type currently configured
for Windows 95 OSR 2 will be displayed. If the monitor type
listed does not match your monitor type click the Change
button. The Select Device dialog will appear.
    4. Select the manufacturer of your monitor in the Manufacturers
section and your monitor type in the Models section. Click
       the OK button.

If your monitor manufacturer is not listed in the
Manufacturers section or your monitor type is not listed in
the Models section contact your monitor manufacturer for
       product updates.

NOTE: You may also try configuring Windows 95 OSR 2 for a
Plug and Play monitor. To do so, select "(Standard monitor
types)" in the Manufacturers section and "Plug and Play
Monitor" in the Models section. Click the OK button.

section and your monitor type in the Models section. Click the
       Next button.

If your monitor manufacturer is not listed in the
Manufacturers section or your monitor type is not listed in
the Models section contact your monitor manufacturer for
       product updates.

NOTE: You may also try configuring Windows 98 for a Plug and
Play monitor. To do so, select "(Standard monitor types)" in
the Manufacturers section and "Plug and Play Monitor" in the
Models section. Click the Next button.

    7. The Update Device Driver Wizard will then prompt you that
"Windows is now ready to install the selected driver for this
       device". Click the Next button.
    8. When the installation is complete, click the Finish button.
    9. Close the Quantum3D Raven (AGP or PCI) Windows 98 Properties
       dialog.
   10. Click the OK button to close the Display Properties dialog.

Q: Do OpenGL games work with Raven?
A: Yes, but Voodoo Banshee products require an update from 3Dfx for
OpenGL games to work with Raven. Release 1.1 for Raven includes
the 3Dfx OpenGL Game Setup program from 3Dfx for Quake, Quake II
and Hexen II. Driver releases for Raven are available at
    www.quantum3d.com.

Q: Does Unreal work with Raven?
A: Yes, but Raven requires an update for Unreal. The retail version
of Unreal does not work correctly with Voodoo Banshee adapters.
If Unreal is currently installed on your computer, uninstall
Unreal, delete the Unreal directory and reinstall a clean version
of Unreal. Then update Unreal to version 1.01, then version 2.09
in that order. You can download updates for Unreal at
    http://www.unreal.com.

Q: What should I do if a Glide game doesn't work with Raven?
A: Make sure that you have any updates for the game from the
manufacturer and the latest drivers for Raven installed. Verify
that Raven is operating correctly with Glide applications by
running the Glide Test applet in the Raven tab of the Display
    Properties.

Q: What should I do if a Direct3D game doesn't work with Raven?
A: Make sure that you have any updates for the game from the
manufacturer and the latest drivers for Raven installed. Verify
that Raven is operating correctly with Direct3D applications by
running the Direct3D Test applet in the Raven tab of the Display
Properties. Also, make sure DirectX 6.0 is installed on your
computer. DirectX 6.0 can be installed from the Raven
    Installation CD.

Q: What is the bottom connector under the VGA connector used for on
    Raven?
A: The bottom connector is for stereo graphics display devices like
H3D stereo goggles. For information on the H3D stereo goggles,
    visit http://www.h3d-media.com.
